Noosa Half Marathon
27th April 2013
One of the top events in the Queensland running calendar is the Noosa Half Marathon. This 21km fun is over 2 laps of a pancake flat circuit through beautiful Noosa on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.
The course starts out at Noosa Sound at Noosa Heads and then winds back along Gympie Terrace into the heart of Noosa Queensland. There are plenty of water stops along the route to keep your hydration levels up.
If 21km is too much for you, there is a 10km single lap circuit as well as a 5km walk/run. The race has categories ranging from wheelies, to under and 18 and to over 80, so you are sure to find your niche. There are total road closures during the race to give you space to enjoy your running without worrying about cars.
The Noosa marathon is held in August each year when the winter temperatures and dry days create perfect Sunshine Coast weather for running.
The Noosa Heads half marathon is only one of the fitness focussed Noosa events. The Noosa Triathlon November is one of the biggest Triathlons in Australia, while the Blue Water Swim in May is one of the top ocean races. The Noosa council is justifiably proud of their reputation for hosting events on the Sunshine Coast.
If you are coming up for the half marathon there is a great range of event accommodation in Noosa available. You can stay at hotels or Noosa resorts, hire an apartment in Noosa or stay in a caravan park. The choice is yours.
