About Noosa's Hinterland
The Noosa Hinterland, comprised of the small towns of Eumundi and Yandina, is a much-loved part of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast just 20 minutes’ drive inland from Noosa and 90 minutes’ drive from the state’s capital, Brisbane. Originally farming centres, these charming townships are now a hub of local handicrafts, B & B accommodation, fresh produce and weekend markets that draw visitors from far and wide.
A distinctly ‘hippie’ vibe to these regions, they are a fantastic place to relax and get back to nature while enjoying the warm, welcoming hospitality the locals so readily provide. There are a range of accommodation options to suit your taste and budget including some delightful BnB’s designed to be your home-away-from-home. For something a little different, the Hidden Valley at Eumundi delivers in spades. A 100-year-old Queensland, this accommodation is furnished with a unique style with pieces from all over the word.
Eumundi is a food and culture lover’s paradise with both national and local art on display at The Gallery Eumundi as well as the iconic Eumundi Markets held every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Here you can pick up a range of organic produce, fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade preserves and local arts and crafts. For all the collectors out there, the Old Butter Factory Markets are a great chance to pick up antiques and quality bric-a-brack every Sunday from 8am to 2pm. Opposite the markets is the Imperial Hotel, the epitome of the country pub, which serves a range of counter meals as well as the local Eumundi lager.
Yandina is home to the largest ginger factory in the Southern Hemisphere and offers a range of ginger-inspired treats as well as fun and informative tours. Noosa Hinterland is also home to some amazing and diverse dining experiences including the divine Spirit House Restaurant. Whether joining in on one of their cooking classes or simply kicking back and enjoying the delicious cuisine while someone does all the work for you, Spirit House offers fine Asian cuisine in a private, open-air setting of greenery overlooking the water or surrounding the lake.
